0 1 Reverse direction Normal (OFF=0) or reverse (ON=1) direction of travel of the loco.
1 2 28/128 speed steps 14 speed steps, mostly obsolete, (OFF=0) or 28/128 speed steps (ON=1).
Recommended "ON" unless 14 speed steps are required.
2 4 DC compatible Deny (OFF=0) or allow (ON=1) loco on analog DC track.
Usually recommended "OFF", ounless the loco is also to be run on DC track.
3 8 Railcom Railcom (OFF=0 / ON=1) Lenz, Zimo and some ESU.
If you do not use Railcom on the loco, leave it in "OFF".
4 16 Complex speed curve  Simple "min, mid, max" (CV2, CV6 and CV5) speed curve (OFF=0) or complex (from CV67 to CV94) speed curve (ON=1)
5 32 Long loco address Short adress on CV1 (OFF=0) or long adress on CV17 and CV18 (ON=1).
6 64 Not normally used
7 128 Not normally used

How do you calculate to get the right value in CV29?

For example, CV29 has a default value of 14 which is due to the fact that if you add up all the decimal values that should have the function "ON" 2 + 4 + 8 = 14.
